Illuminate
We hope you will join us for our annual Rhinebeck sweater KAL!! This year it will be taking place in the Magpie Ravelry Group and Facebook and is hosted by the ever-amazing Maressamade & TheLovelyFox!! We will be gathering at the hill at Rhinebeck for the NY Sheep & Wool Festival to show off our sweaters, and will have a virtual option for anyone who won’t be there!
DETAILS
Illuminate is the 4th annual Rhinebeck collaboration with Dreareneeknits, Magpie Fibers & Spincycle Yarns!
Ethereal mohair glows against the deep and moody backdrop of wool to create a round yoke jumper that dissolves into stripes. Illuminate is knit from the top down (meaning you can try it on as you go and add length to suit your own personal style!), beginning with the collar. The circular yoke is adorned with stranded colorwork (worked from a CHART ONLY), and then you will separate the sleeves placing them on hold while the body is finished with alternating stripes. The sleeves are then returned to the needle, picking up stitches for the underarm for a totally seamless sweater!

SUGGESTED YARN
For this sweater I chose the color-shifting, moody Nocturne of Spincycle Yarns (although their Dyed in the Wool is a perfect substitute), and brought it to life with ethereal mohair Feather from Magpie Fibers. Using these 2 very different yarns together created a light, yet warm, sweater with colorwork and stripes that really stand out thanks to gorgeous halo of mohair.
MC - Spincycle Nocturne (or Dyed in the Wool) - 100% Merino Wool (200 yds/approx. 50 g)
3 (4, 4, 4, 5)(5, 6, 6, 7) skeins Night Watch (Blues and a touch of purple)
CC - Magpie Fibers Feather - 70% Mohair/30% Silk (470 yds/50 g)
2 (2, 2, 3, 3)(3, 3, 4, 4) skeins Magpie (Light Turquoise)
SUGGESTED NEEDLES
Main Fabric: US 4/3.5 mm –24”/60 cm to 40”/100 cm circular
Sleeves: US 5/3.75 mm –preferred needles for small circumference knitting (Magic Loop or DPNs) (Optional, but recommended to keep a consistent gauge during small circumference knitting!)
Ribbing: US 2/2.75 mm - 16”/40 cm circular for collar, 32-40”/80-100 cm for hem and preferred needles for small circumference knitting for cuffs.
(Use the needle size you need to achieve gauge. The Ribbing needle should be 2 US sizes smaller than the Main Fabric needle.)
