An expert on Estonian knitting, Nancy Bush modeled this shawl after the small triangular scarves currently made along the west coast
in the vicinity of Haapsalu. While early scarves from the area were typically square or rectangular, small triangular scarves that just
covered the shoulders became popular in the 1930s. Worked from the point up to the top edge, Nancy’s version incorporates classic
patterns, including a scalloped outer edge, a wide openwork border, and a smaller openwork pattern for the center, divided by garter stitch
bands that feature small “gathered” stitches.
