I'm a little Teapot
You settle in for an afternoon of tea and knitting. The citrusy aroma of your favorite Earl Grey tea fills the room. And the little ditty you’ve knitted into this tea cozy has you humming, “I’m a little teapot / Short and stout….” This Fair Isle tea cozy keeps your teapot stylishly warm -- one of the benefits of stranded knitting is that its layers are extra-insulating. Steeked openings for the pot’s handle and spout mean that you can pour your tea without removing the cozy.
Inspired by the challenge of seeing just how much Fair Isle knitting a person can get out of only two skeins of yarn, June Dickinson created this charming design. The words to “I’m a Little Teapot” are knitted in, front and back; pattern shows this in a colored chart. This design uses Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift, just one skein of main color and one of contrasting color. Shown in #769 Willow and #821 Rosemary.
