“30 is the new 20”, they say. In a recent conversation I had, I described a workshop I attended whereby I was surrounded by “real adults” and felt as though I didn’t belong. The person I was talking to, very matter of factly looked at me and said, “Joey…you know you are a real adult, right?”.

If adulthood starts at 30, I’m just a baby adult, freshly experiencing this new period of life. And yet, I also don’t fit in with the current generation of “young adults”. Why isn’t there an additional category for people in their 30’s like me? Middle adults--those that are in the gray area of finding themselves.
