This hat pattern is an easy knit that starts off with standard 1x1 ribbing that turns into a folded band. The body of the hat is mostly stockinette stitch except for some purl columns that line up with the swirled crown shaping.

The hat will fit most teens and adults and and can be customized to add more height in the body before starting the crown shaping if the person for whom you are making the hat has a large head.

Materials include a single skein of worsted weight yarn, size 4 (3.5mm) 16” (40cm) circular needle and six stitch markers. You’ll also need size 4 (3.5mm) double pointed needles for working the crown shaping.
