Inca Cat Mittens
nca cat mittens are traditional colorwork mittens with a two color ribbing and a peasant thumb. Incan textiles from Peru were the inspiration for the motif designs on these mittens. The cat and the border pattern come from a garment panel, while the design on the palm was loosely adapted from a poncho. The pattern includes charts, photos and written instructions.
Finished measurements: woman’s medium:
Women’s Medium - Fits palm circumference 8 inches (20 cm)
Length (ribbing included) - 10 inches (25.5 cm)
They can be knitted in other sizes by changing the gauge, the yarn or both. They’ve been successfully knit in both small and large sizes.
Yardage
The pattern is done in fingering weight yarn in 5 colors. The yardage required varies from 138 yards to 26 yard, depending on the the color.
Needles:
US#1 (2.25mm) & US#2 (2.75mm) DPN (set of 5)
(Ribbing is worked on smaller needles.)
There is a matching hat pattern. The mitten and hat pattern are available as a set here.
