This pattern was designed for the 2025 Chicagoland Yarn Crawl. It will be free until Sunday, August 10.

Indigo Gateway Scarf kits are available here.

We chose indigo dyed yarn from Mitchell Wool for this year’s Yarn Crawl project because it is oh so soft and naturally dyed.

Mitchell Wool Co. is a regenerative family farm in Michigan, supporting the US wool industry with sustainable plant-dyed yarns.

The indigo chakra is considered to be the gateway to wisdom and higher consciousness. My hope is that the making and the wearing of this project will bring more of that into the world!

Gauge isn’t particularly important for this pattern, but it may impact the amount of yarn needed.

If substituting yarns, choose a lofty heavy DK or light worsted.

The pattern includes video tutorials for doing cables without a cable needle and my tips for making tassels.
