Inga Loves Fröderick
“Inga Loves Fröderick” is a quick-knit pair of socks with a lot of impact. The pattern resembles a traditional Bavarian motif, but the twisted-stitch medallions on the front are actually an original design based on a leaded-glass panel. The finished socks can be left as-is or customized with embroidery in your choice of colors for a truly unique pair of socks.
Photos show Adult Small on woman’s size 8 foot. Worked in a subdued color and omitting the embroidery, the sock could be worn by men as well. Due to the elastic nature of the twisted-stitch design, foot-circumference sizing is somewhat forgiving.
Construction: Top-down, knit in the round, heel flap.
Yarn shown: Cascade 220, color 8010 (cream).
Optional yarn / thread for embellishment: Approx. 12 yd / 11 m contrasting color yarn or embroidery floss for embellishment. Shown: approx. 4 yd each of 3 colors “Designs for the Needle” embroidery floss, 100% cotton.
Notions: Stitch markers; stitch holder or waste yarn; yarn needle for weaving in ends
Skills: Knit, purl, twisted stitches, knitting in the round, following a chart, short rows, grafting.
