About
The Inge Isle Sweater is a cozy, textured knit that is inspired by classic vintage Aran sweaters. The thick & squishy kind that you pull on and instantly feel at home in. I named it after my grandmother, Inge, who was incredibly kind and endlessly caring. With its relaxed fit and all-over texture, this design balances timeless fisherman style with a touch of nostalgia.

The Inge Isle Sweater is started by working two individual pieces featuring mock cables that will each form a saddle shoulder. Stitches are then picked up for the back and shaped with German Short Rows. The back is then shaped with increases for the armholes. The front is worked in the same manner, with the addition of the neckline shaping.

The front and back are then joined together to start working in the round. The sweater features 4 different textures that are mostly worked with knits & purls for a rhythmic knitting experience. Then, the hem is worked with 2x2 ribbing. Next, stitches are picked up for the sleeve which are worked in the round with the same mock cable stitch from the shoulders. Finally, a 2x2 folded ribbed neckline is added to the sweater.

Note
The cream cardigan sample was made during the test knit- after which the following adjustments were made: the lateral braid detail sits lower on the yoke, the neckline is less deep and the purl stitches were removed from the two textures on the center front.

Skill
Difficulty 3/5. German Short Rows, simple textures, lateral braids with a crochet hook.
