From Fishermen’s Sweaters: Although traditional Aran sweaters are synonymous with heavy sculpted forms, openwork patterns were occasionally used. I have used this idea to create a light and delicate Aran design for a child in sizes for ages four to nine years. The curves, textures and openwork of the centre panels on Inishneer are complemented by the light cables and the twisted-stitch patterns.

The use of a lighter double knitting wool has reduced the scale of the patterns on Inisheer and emphasised the detail.
