Inspired by Friendship
Michael Sellick and Jeanne Steinhilber present Inspired by Friendship Crochet Blanket—same pattern done in two different colour stories.
They chatted on a recent vacation about designing a blanket together, much like the Better Together Afghan back in 2020. A passenger spared them some yarn to begin and finish a prototype on board using Caron One Pound yarn. A new design was born.
When they collaborate, they have the same tension in their hands. So Mikey started this with a 6 dc cluster corner-to-corner rectangle shape. Jeanne took over the blanket and did the textured shells and so on.
Upon getting home, neither was convinced about the original’s colouring. Mikey was very unhappy with the obvious cut in colour in the centre corner to corner rectangle. The white was too dominant throughout.
Jeanne switched the centre to Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes instead in a colour called Bay and started mixing it with Caron One Pound in white. The Caron Swirl Cakes transition naturally in colouring. I thought originally she did colour play. I was obsessed with how it looked.
