“this top-down cardigan has a set-in sleeve construction,” explains Rosee Woodland. “You cast on for the back neck and shoulders, shape them using short rows and then pick up stitches from the cast-on for the front shoulders and knit down a little. Once these small sections have been made you have something like a tiny shallow cape, which can then be turned into a back yoke, with stitches for sleeves picked up from the sides of the front shoulders. This places the seam slightly behind the shoulder, which is comfortable and flattering.”
