Interjected
Interjected got its name from the approach to construction. The main color composes a framework - a beaded rib backbone and segments of lattice lace. Then, contrast color wedges are interjected along the way, always coming in from the outside edge, on the “wrong” side.
You start with 3 stitches, increase to the middle section/ centerpiece, and then decrease again to a 3-stitch bind-off.
This sounds complicated but it’s actually relatively simple. The lace is meditative and has 2 basic repeat rows. The interjections are short rows, but only the most basic ones.
In the end you get this dramatic, Gaussian-shaped shawl that has a tailfin look. I like to wear it side to side, because it’s taller than it is wide unless you knit the backbone loosely.
Blocked measurements, smaller size: 65 in high at center & 60 in wide across backbone. Larger size: targeting 72 in wide across backbone, same height at center.
