Irati Sweater
The Irati Forest. A Treasure of the Pyrenees
Much has been written about the Irati Forest and its indisputable beauty. And it is normal, since it is one of the largest and best preserved beech-fir forests in Europe.
An extensive forest that, although it has been exploited forestry since the XV century, is preserved in full form thanks to the respect shown to it by the citizens of these valleys.
Beeches, oaks, firs, birches, willows, ferns and mosses, among others, are home to deer, roe deer, wild boar and a multitude of other inhabitants, which give this environment a great environmental richness.
Irati Sweater is a circular yoke that is worked seamlessly from the top down. The neck is worked first, after that, several series of short rows are used for a comfortable and beautifully shaped finish.
The yoke is shaped with increases that are evenly distributed around the entire circumference of the upper body.
Sleeves are then placed on hold and the body is worked toward the hem. The sleeve stitches are then placed on the needles again and worked in the round toward the cuffs.
Beginner-friendly as you only work with 2 colors at a time.
