This cozy warm hat is knitted in the round with the stranded colorwork technique. It is designed to have a touch of whimsy, inspired by the many birds of beautiful Block Island, Rhode Island.

It is offered in one size-- fits most adults. The lower edge of hat is worked last after the upper main section of the hat is complete. This allows you to adjust the fit. The top of the hat features a decorative two-color loop.

The hat uses 1 skein each of two colors. The gauge given, 21 sts and 24 rounds, is for the stranded colorwork.

Originally the hat was worked in ATLANTIC from North Light Fibers on Block lsland. Now that the yarn is discontinued, I suggest Cascade 220 or any other non-superwash wool.
