Isola
Some members of in tiziana’s corner group had the idea of a read-along/knit-along: the idea was to knit together the same pattern while reading a book related to the design.
The favorite title for our first RAL - KAL has been “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society”, by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, and I designed the Isola Shawl, inspired by this book.
“Isola” is the name of my favorite character in the novel, I love the book mostly for that woman!
“Isola” is also the Italian word for “island”, and since the actions in the book take place on an island (well, two actually) I found the name even more appropriate.
The pattern has both charts and line-by-line directions, and it has video tutorials for the less common sts.
