It’s All About The Butt by Woolycricket
I made this sweater for my big guy because you could buy
sweaters but they didn’t fit properly. There were no knitting
patterns out at the time to fit our big babies.
I will be adding at the end of each section the way I made the
sweater. I have been told it is too much and others wanted the
extra information. Making the best fitting sweater for your fur
baby is what I am working for.
Chest Sizes: 29 (33, 37, 41)inches
This sweater was designed to help fit a barrel chested dog but
is easily adapted to fit all pets.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn (all fibers will work for this sweater just be sure to hand wash if
you use wool or animal fiber. Estimated yardage 300-450 yards (170-250 grams). I always
purchase more yarn due to individual knitting styles.
Circular needles in 16 inch size 3 (3.25 mm) and 24 to 32 inch size 4 (3.5 mm) and 6 (4.0 mm)
for the body. 4 dp needles for legs in size 6 (4.0 mm). Stitch markers, scrap yarn, tapestry
needle for working in ends. Note : you will not need the size 4 needles if you are not making the
sweater with a decreasing taper for the smaller belly.
Gauge: Using the largest needles stockinette st should be 17 sts and 24 rows for a 4 x 4 swatch.
I knit very loose so please check your gauge. You may need to adjust needle sizes.
