I've Got Sunshine
This pattern was created in collaboration with Holly Press Fibers for the second Lots of Sock KAL. The yarn was custom dyed to incorporate blue and yellow, the color for Down syndrome, and the stitch pattern was inspired by the yarn colorway name, with meandering twisted stitches gently moving down the leg and foot like the sun streaming through the clouds. As part of the KAL, all proceeds from the pattern on its release day were donated to Down Syndrome International. Thanks to your purchases, we raised $663 for this great organization!
These socks are knit cuff down, with a heel flap and gusset and a wide toe. The gusset decreases are moved to an unusual location that results in a heel that hugs the foot. The twisted stitch panel is placed on the outside of each foot and perfectly mirrored.
To knit this pattern, you need to know how to:
- work in the round and flat,
- work twisted stitches,
- work a traveling stitch pattern using a chart or written directions,
- work basic decreases (k2tog, ssk, p2tog), and
- use Kitchener stitch to graft live stitches.
