This pattern has a simple lace pattern paired with a reverse stockinette fabric. The lace design allows the color of the inner stockinette to show through. Using two contrasting colors will emphasize this “window” effect. Or work with two similar hues for a monochrome cowl which can be worn with either texture facing out.

YARN: One skein each of two different colors of the same weight yarn. Sample shown in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (100% superwash Merino wool; 420 yds per 100g skein); Color A: ‘Filigree’, Color B: ‘Calligraphy’

NEEDLES: US 4/3.5 mm 16-inch circular needle

NOTIONS: stitch marker

GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Width: 5 1/4” Circumference: 19”

NOTES:
Work each stitch in the color indicated. For example, P2tog – B means purl 2 stitches together using Color B.
Full Twist: Wind the working yarns around each other once and return them to same positions (opposite side and facing side). This connects the fabric layers, helping to keep them in place, without changing colors on either side.
