Jack of the Green
This is a mystery sock, designed for the Sock Knitters Anonymous Group, but of course, anyone is welcome to participate. The pattern is available in four installments, released weekly during March of 2017. After the last installment of the pattern, I’ll include a full pattern document along with all the “clues,” so knitters will have the option of working the sock mystery-style or as a regular knitted sock.
I hope you enjoy this one! It’s got lots of cables.
Level: Intermediate, due to sock construction and heavy cabling.
Materials: 400-450 yds of sock yarn. (Plan on additional yardage due to the cabling, especially for the larger sizes)
Tools: Cable needle, if necessary, tape measure, scissors, and tapestry needle
Needles: US1 sock needles (pattern is written for both DPNs and Magic Loop)
Gauge: 8 stitches & 12 rounds per inch (2.5cm) in stockinette stitch
Sizing: The cables make this sock rather inelastic, so the stitch count is very high per size; however the small (medium, large, & extra-large) sizes still measure 8(9,10,11) inches or 20.5(23,25.5,28) cm. The high stitch count also affects the yardage necessary— plan on needing more than a usual amount.
