As the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, elegant Jack Skellington wears a sophisticated pinstripe suit with a bat bowtie, and his long, lean body moves like a spider. Although it appears that he has it all and is happy with his eerie existence, Jack longs for something more beyond the monotony of scaring humans and planning the next Halloween. He finds what he thinks is missing from his world in the bright, jolly Christmas Town.

Creator Tim Burton states, “I Love Jack. He has a lot of passion and energy; he’s always looking for a feeling. That’s what he finds in Christmas Town. He is a bit misguided, and his emotions take over, but he gets everybody excited.” Set designers wanted there to be an obvious shift between the hard angles and limited color palette in Halloween Town and the rounded edges and dazzling tone of Christmas Town. Jack also gets a makeover going from his dark pinstripe suit to the bold red Santa outfit made by Sally.

Bring a bit of Halloween Town into your home with poseable figures of Jack Skellington and Jack in his Sandy Claws costume. Knit from the bottom up, the legs are made separately then joined at the hips to be worked in the round up through the torso, neck, and head. Fully posable due to a wire armature inside (much like the puppets made for the film), the wire is inserted while working the torso. Arms are attached last, and both figures can be knit from the same pattern with just a few wardrobe changes. Make a Santa suit, hat, and beard like Sally made for Jack, or recreate his dapper suit with embroidered stem stitching and bat bowtie. All hail the Pumpkin King!
