The Jackie Scarf is written for DK/Worsted weight yarn (the yarn that I used is listed as a worsted but I think a dk would work just about the same) and 4.5 mm needles, but what really makes it shine is its flexibility. Whether you’re working with fingering, aran, or even chunky yarn, this pattern adjusts effortlessly to showcase the texture and feel of whatever you choose. There’s no need to worry about hitting an exact gauge—this is the kind of project that invites you to enjoy the process.

You’ll begin with a straightforward cast-on and a few setup rows, then move into a 6-row stockinette increase section that gently shapes the width. From there, it’s smooth, meditative knitting through the body—no shaping required until the end. Once you’ve reached your desired length, you’ll work matching decreases to taper the opposite point, creating a clean, symmetrical finish. The built-in faux I-cord edging adds a refined touch and keeps the edges neat, all without any extra finishing steps.

Note: This project requires harsh blocking at the end - I didn’t have the correct blocking tools to get my sample to lay completely flat. My testers noted they had to use many pins and methods such as steam blocking to get it to lay completely flat.

All sizes have been tested except size L. DivaVonPurl made a size custom and used 218yds of a worsted cotton blend. zeepzonk made a custom size and used 82yds of aran weight yarn. Check out all the test knitters lovely project pages!
