Long fascinated by nature, my first yoke top-down sweater is copying one of nature’s best. Just like the caterpillar builds the egg-shaped cocoon, Jajowaty is constructed from the top down, seamlessly.
After a basic neck ribbing, the main color is doubled up with a strand of black mohair to create the incrementally increasing stripes of the yoke. The last stripe is of a golden color, partially doubled up with a strand of golden mohair. Knitting stitches together with stitches of the row below and on the wrong side, creates these garter ridges within the golden stripe. The rest of this sweater is easy. Short rows lift the back before the body and sleeves are separated and completed in-the round. Before the ribbing cuff another dark mohair stripe followed by a golden stripe decorates the sleeves.
