Janus Cardigan is built around contrast.
At first glance, it appears as a soft, lightweight cardigan with gently voluminous sleeves — warm enough to disappear comfortably under a coat, its colours blending easily into layered outfits.
Worn on its own, it takes on a lighter presence, open to styling and movement, equally suited to everyday wear or an evening out.
Turned upside down, the same garment becomes a cropped bolero, revealing a sharper silhouette hidden within the construction.
Named after Janus, the Roman god of transitions, often depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions, this piece holds two identities at once — shifting character with a simple turn.

The pattern is graded across seven sizes and written to guide you clearly, yet it leaves room for intuition. Worked in panels, the knitting itself remains straightforward, while the assembly asks for attention, adjustment, and personal judgement to achieve a natural rhythm and drape.

Each finished Janus reflects the hands that made it — less assembled than shaped along the way.

Sizes and measurements
The pattern is size-inclusive and is given in 7 sizes. The instruction for each size is given in following order 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7)

The cardigan is intended to be worn with 15-30 cm (4-6”) of positive ease.

The model in the photo is wearing size 2, with 30 cm (12”) of positive ease around bust. Model height is 185 cm (6ft 11”).
