Janus (the Roman god of transitions and gates) is a simple cardigan with an interesting keyhole detail in the back. It is knit in one piece from the bottom up in stockinette stitch with continuous ribbing along the fronts. At the armholes, all stitches are bound off, then picked up again to create a subtle line where the keyhole begins. Ribbing outlines the keyhole opening and overlaps at the top and a few increases and decreases help form the opening shape. After the raglan yoke is complete, the front ribbing is continued for a few inches, then wrapped around the back neck and seamed down. This is an effortless piece that makes a big impact.
