Publishing in Knitting Magazine 083 as “Snood”.
This delicate lace snood which can be worn around the shoulders or draped over the head is knitted in the round, then the Bird’s Eye Lace edging, knitted flat, is knitted separately and sewn on to live sts. When the main section is completed, all the sts are threaded onto waste yarn which acts as a “lifeline” and is a safety measure against dropped sts. After checking that no stitches have been dropped, the lifeline should be removed.
The cast on edge of the main section is naturally shaped due to the lace pattern. The cowl can be adjusted in length – remember to allow more yarn if lengthening – and may be worn with either the “scalloped” cast on edge framing the face or the straighter Bird’s Eye edge
Chiara is the same design but re-worked in Artesano Alpaca Silk.
