Jellybeans Ribbed Turtleneck
Pattern stitched in 4 pieces (front, back & sleeves) and sewn together. Turtleneck is picked up and knit. No blocking required.
Designer Notes: A ribbed turtleneck may at first glance seem unsuitable for a large woman, but that’s not the case here. This sweater is designed with long vertical rows of rib, which soften the horizontal effect of variegated yarn and therefore make the body look thinner. The design creates a body-skimming rib with plenty of ease that is meant to be worn unstretched. The three-fold loose turtleneck focuses attention on the vertical line of the neck and frames the face.
Variegated yarn can tend to knit into horizontal stripes, but you can easily modify the effect by periodically cutting out a 10” to 15” section of yarn, and then retying the yarn ends to change the color repeat. Worked this way , the color forms allover discrete shapes rather than bold horizontal stripes. Also, this Filaro yarn tends to blotch rather than stripe, and the pattern it creates will be different for each sweater size. Regardless of which size you make, you can expect the colors to stripe on the neck.
