Jenny June Scarf
by Beth Graham
This classic unisex scarf reimagines a Victorian motif for a modern audience. Jenny June is worked lengthwise, using the rustic, fresh-colored Kauni to great effect.
Try it in any sport weight yarn you fancy – one with long stripes of color will show off the diamond pattern best.
The original pattern, for a counterpane (bedspread), appeared in Miss Jenny June Croly’s Knitting and Crochet: A Guide to the Use of the Needle and the Hook. (Lynn, Mass: J.F. Ingalls, 1886)
Clear instructions and an easy-to-read chart make this pattern a good choice for the newer crocheter.
Note: Sample was made using a 160 g skein of Kauni.
