“I intend to make my own way in the world.” (Jo March, Little Women)

Jo was a practical soul who wouldn’t have had time for shawls and this scarf would have suited her perfectly – a clear link to her family in her own strong style.

There are links to video tutorials for the Italian 2-colour cast on and cast off that are used included in the pattern. The pattern is fully written with an optional chart that is supplied as a separate file.

Notions required
1 lockable stitch marker (for br4st dec)
Tapestry needle (for Italian brioche cast-off and weaving in ends)

Notes on yardage
One skein of each colour is used.
My sample used 332m of the Light Colour and 316m of the Dark Colour, so you could include an extra repeat of the pattern if you wished to make the scarf slightly longer while still using one skein of each colour.

Many thanks to Nancy Marchant for her work on brioche stitches and terminology, which is used here and to Deb Bramham for her brilliant tech editing.
