The long cardigan is designed pure and timeless to create an everyday piece and to pay attention to the material.

The cardigan is started by knitting the back from top down to the base of the armhole. The shoulder part is shaped using short rows. Then, both fronts are knitted separately from the top down to the base of the armholes, working increases for the V-neck at the same time. Back and fronts are then joined and decreases for the arm shaping as well as increases for the V-neck are worked. While knitting down to the hem, increases for a slight A-line body and short rows for a longer back are worked, and pockets are added. For these pockets, stitches are placed on hold, and the same number of stitches is cast on again for the pocket opening. After reaching the desired length of the pockets, the stitches for the pocket lining are picked up again and are worked separately to the same length. The body is then continued by knitting the pocket and body stitches together and finished by a small ribbed hem. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round down to the ribbed cuffs.
For the front- and neck finishing, stitches are picked up along both fronts and along the neck, and a small neck- and front band is worked.

The instructions for the short version is not included in the pattern. You can find the modifications here.
