The balls and ribbons on this hat give it a cheerful, festive look so I call it the Jollity Hat. The large balls in the pattern define long floats that need to be addressed in some manner. To avoid the peek-through of color that often results from locking the long floats, the Ladderback Jacquard method is used to handle the long floats.
