Mysteriosa is one of 12 designs in the Jubilæum Collection, celebrating 10 years of Ziggurating and design.

Along with the new Ziggurat Repartee Jubilæum Mysteriosa makes up Chapter 3.

Jubilæum Celebration KITS for Chapter 3 from Yarn Culture

Mysteriosa was the first ever knitalong from Åsa Tricosa
in 2014… and also the only one so far…

Jubilæum Mysteriosa is a celebration of a yarn favourite that has been a constant companion in my knitting and design, Fyberspates Faery Wings. The new version features POGO from Crave Yarn – it is the same blend and composition as Faery Wings (and any of its sisters – all equally lush and silky, a blend that has an ongoing love affair with dye).

For the Jubilæum Edition I have added a second Contrast Colour. The Pogo mini skeins are simply too inviting not to play around with colour – so to let you play around some more, colouring sheets are provided with the pattern.

The instructions have been spruced up. This also seemed the perfect opportunity to chart every bit of the pattern so that the shawl now can be knitted entirely from charts – the row by row fully written instructions are still there for those knitters who prefer that.
(The new instructions and charts give you a Mysteriosa with 1 main colour and 2 contrast colours.)

I hope you’ll enjoy knitting one of my all-time favourite shawls in one of my all-time favourite yarns!

Altough no longer a mystery, Mysteriosa can still be described as what it is not.

Mysteriosa is

  • not a triangular shawl
  • nor knitted sideways
  • neither is it a lace shawl, although there are holes
  • There is no stranded colourwork but contrasting colour accents appear.
  • You will also find that it is not small and not plain. Rather it is generous, textured, and inviting…

Written & Charted (& Tested & Tech Edited)
For the Jubilæum edition, there are additional charts, so that the entire shawl can be knitted from charts.
There are also row by row, written instructions.

For your knitting pleasure, the pattern has been put through another round of test knitting & professionally tech editing.

There are a lot (many!) twisted stitches (also ptbl and p2togtbl). These can be hard on hands and wrists and your patience – the pattern includes suggestions to make twisting (and other knitting easier) along with a whole host of photo tutorials:

  • Winding cast on
  • Tricosa tab cast on
  • p1tbl & p2tog tbl
  • stretchy bind off with picots
  • attached i-cord (optional)
  • M1L / M1R
