“Kaga”, flower bud in Japanese, is a boxy cardigan that dresses up your casual outfit.
It is worked from the top down seamlessly. The fronts and back are first worked back and forth separately. After short-row shoulder shaping, they are worked in Kaga pattern to the underarm, then joined. The lower body is knitted in one piece to the hem.
Sleeves sts are picked up around the arm openings and worked down in the round in 1x1 rib.
The front and neck edging are finished neatly with I-cord.

This cardigan is intended to be worn with a large amount of positive ease (50 – 70 cm / 19¾ – 28”) at bust.
Size 1 sample is worn with + 63.5 cm / 25” ease.

Needles
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle; 60 – 100 cm / 24 – 40” or longer (for body and neckband) – Adjust cable length to fit sts comfortably.
3.75 mm / US 5 needles, 80 cm / 32” or longer circular or dpns (for sleeves)
3 mm / US 2½ needles, 60 cm / 24” or longer circular or dpns (for cuff)
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions
Stitch markers, spare circular needle of 3.5 mm / US 4, tapestry needle, waste yarn, stitch holders, crochet hook (if needed)

Gauge (after blocking)
20 sts and 31.5 rows = 10 cm / 4” in Kaga pattern on 3.5 mm / US 4 needle (lightly stretched at blocking to open up lace)
Note: The number of stitches fluctuates every 2 rows. Cast on at least 24 sts (3 repeats) and measure the stitch gauge at Row 12 or 24.
25 sts and 31.5 rows = 10 cm / 4” in 1x1 rib on 3.75 mm / US 5 needle (lightly stretched at blocking)

ゲージ(ブロッキング後)
3.5 mm / US 4の針で, Kaga模様20目31.5段 = 10 cm四方(模様がよく見えるようにブロッキングで少し伸ばす)
注: 模様の目数は2段ごとに変化するため, 24目(3模様)以上で作り目し, 目数ゲージは段12または24で計測すること.
3.75 mm / US 5 の針で, 1目ゴム編み25目31.5段 = 10 cm四方(ブロッキングで少し伸ばす)
