I named this cowl Kagyaku, which is the Japanese word for reversible. This cozy cowl has no “wrong” side - it has two different sides and can also be worn inside-out.

The cowl is worked seamlessly in the round. The cowl version fits once around your neck while the large version may be worn as a loop or wrapped twice around your neck. Thus worked with a super bulky yarn, it will keep your neck warm on cold winter days.

The pattern can be knit using different CO- and BO-methods. It includes suggestions for beginners and intermediate knitters.

It is a quick knit which just needs your attention every tenth round.

2 (4) skeins Lang Yarns Merino 50 or approx. 180 (360) meters/214 (428) yards of a yarn that gives you gauge

11 sts x 16 rows = 10 cm/4”, in stockinette pattern with needle 8.00 mm/US11 after blocking
19 sts x 18 rows = 10 cm/4”, in Ribbed Horseshoe Pattern with needle 8.00 mm/US11 after blocking

A different gauge will affect size and yardage needed.

NEEDLE
8.00 mm/US11 circular needle 60 (80) cm/24” (32”)

NOTIONS
A stitch marker, a cable needle and a tapestry needle for working the Tubular BO in the round and weaving in ends.

REQUIRED TECHNIQUES
Long Tail Tubular CO and Tubular BO in the round (or BO Cabled CO and Knit Decrease BO), knit and purl stitches, 4 over 4 cables left and right.
