Kale is a scarf that can be knit long or short depending on your desire. The scarf as knit takes about 200 yards in bulky weight yarn and can be knit in approximately 8 hours. Dainty cables frame the outer edges as well as the center leaf motif.

A simple but delicate scarf that can be knit in any weight yarn. If you are nervous about knitting cables this is the perfect project for you. After just a short time you will be knitting cables like a pro!

Materials Needed:
Size 10 (6.0 mm) straight needles
2 balls of Martha Stewart Crafts Alpaca Blend bulky 40% wool, 40% Acrylic, 20% Alpaca 115 yds
Darning needle
cable hook

Abbreviations
K—knit
P—purl
CN—Cable Needle
C3 over 3 Right-sl3 to CN, hold in back. k3, k3 from CN
C3 over 3 Left-sl 3 to CN, hold in front. k3, k3 from CN
Yarn Over- loop yarn over needle to create extra length
Right Twist -Skip the first stitch, knit into 2nd stitch, then knit skipped stitch. Slip both stitches from needle together OR k2tog leaving sts on LH needle, then k first st again, sl both sts off needle.
Left Twist -sl1 to CN, hold in front. k1, k1 from CN
SSK -Slip one stitch as if to knit, Slip another stitch as if to knit. Insert left-hand needle into front of these 2 stitches and knit them together
K2tog -Knit two stitches together as one stitch
dbl dec -Slip first and second stitches together as if to knit. Knit 1 stitch. Pass two slipped stitches over the knit stitch.
