Shawl is worked from the top down; circular needle is used to accommodate stitches, but piece is worked back and forth in rows.

The chart is worked once on each side between the 2 edge garter stitches and 2 center garter stitches.

Chart rows 1-21 establish a diamond on each side of the center 2 garter stitches then each repeat of chart rows 22-33 adds an additional diamond to each side. When working chart rows 22-33, work stitches before outlined pattern repeat once, then work pattern repeat as many times as possible, then work stitches after outlined
pattern repeat once.
