Kamile
Kamile was inspired by my desire to create a half round beaded lace shawl using the incredible colors of Wollmeise yarn.
Kamile is knit from the top down in five matching panels to form a half circle.
Charts only at this time. A medium difficulty pattern that requires the ability to read and follow charts with very clear, concise and tested instructions. WS rows are also patterned with knit and purl stitches until you come to the border and then the WS rows are purled.
Option: There have been a couple of 7 panel versions made! Add 2 more repeats between the red vertical lines of all the charts and instructions.
Any lace weight to fingering weight yarn, any brand can be used. Beads are optional, however they are an integral part of the design. Size 6/0 seed beads for fingering and size 8/0 toho seed beads for lace weight yarns are recommended.
Measurements are: 58”x27” using Wollmeise 100% fingering weight and Chart 2A; and 70”x32” using Wollmeise Lacegarn and Charts 2B - both on US#6 (4mm) needles.
Size for the larger version can be adjusted smaller by using a very fine lace weight yarn and smaller needles such as US#4 or 5 (3.5 or 3.75mm).
Enjoy!
The main stitch pattern in the body of the shawl is modified from a stitch pattern in Hitomi Shida’s 250 Knitting Patterns Book.
