Intermediate - This pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques including slip stitches and colorwork.
The Karuna shawl design is based on the idea that individual differences, both large and small, may actually complement one another. In fact, they might even enhance the overall with very little effort. What a boring world it would be without our differences!
Karuna’s shape is what would be classified as a “distorted triangle.” This is easily achieved by starting at one point and increasing stitches along one edge while decreasing fewer stitches on the other edge.
The main body of the shawl is knit in an easy basketweave type pattern. When changing colors, mosaic stitch patterns are used. This is a simple way to achieve a color pattern while only requiring the knitter to work with one color at a time. It is a great method to use as an introduction to colorwork.
