Kashmir
The pattern we commonly refer to as Paisley today is know by many names: Boteh, Palme, Welsh pears, and Persian pickles. Kashmir shawls, as they were originally called, were made by hand by skilled weavers over the course of many days. It was only after the invention of the Jacquard loom that the town of Paisley Scotland claimed leadership in the mass production of the beautiful woolens. This cardigan is my homage to the tradition of the Paisley shawl. Its softly heathered yarn lends the colors a blended quality without sacrificing stitch definition. A combination of trims, closures, and French-knot accents creates additional surface dimension.
