Katina's Shawl
Yarn Choice:
This small shawl is knit in worsted weight yarn. It has an attached button for closure. NO BUTTONHOLE.You are to use the open work at the top as a buttonhole, so picking a button size and shape – please keep this in mind. I have shown the piece in both a hand-dyed and hand-spun colorway and in 2 hand dyed yarns.
It would also be a VERY good and fun stash buster, mixing in and switching yarns as what you have demands and following what you feel would be good & fun.
ONE COLOR version with tighter edging/smaller size:
MC: ONE x Bugbear Woolens, Hand-Spun/Hand-Dyed approx. Superwash Merino 365 yards / 200 grams - approximate amount used 175g. & 320yds.
Colorway : Rainbow Madness , OOAK
TWO COLOR version with looser edging/larger size:
MC: ONE x JMR Studio, Worsted, 60% Merino & 40% Silk, one ply
 worsted 250 yards / 113 grams approximate amount used 89g. & 197yds.
Colorway : D-HfTu (Cornflower Blue Watercolor)
CC: ONE x JMR Studio, Worsted, 60% Merino & 40% Silk, one ply
 worsted 250 yards / 113 grams approximate amount used 87g. & 192yds.
Colorway : D-SpSg (Silver Sage Green)
Notions: stitch markers, needle or hook to tuck in ends,
 1 VERY special BUTTON (optional)
FINISHING: Soak wash and HARD BLOCK…
button placement varies person to person…it needs to be tested.
I recommend pinning it on and trying it before sewing.

I really find that the challenge of an AMAZING and gorgeous yarn…
The handspun is/was stunning in the skein and a bit intimidating.
In these cases, I believe you need to try to put yarns like this into a
format (design / pattern) that is QUIET enough to let the yarn be the showcase. I love that this yarn looked amazing to me in the skein & I also love it in the finished piece. I sometimes think I need to alter a pattern or design idea to work with a particular yarn; either the dye configuration is not complimented in the design OR something else seems discordant.
This design seemed to work like a dream with the material.
The second texture and the lace add on came as I worked.
