The Kay Hat pattern is a very classic design, made bold by the choice of jumbo yarn. The ribbing texture in the brim is luscious in jumbo yarn, and allows for the brim to be turned up, if the wearer prefers, or worn down, with a slight slouch at the back. The size is generous, accommodating larger heads.

This hat is meant to be knit by hand, working flat. It begins with a ribbed brim, then adds the main body of the hat, and reduces to the crown. It is cast off onto the snipped end of yarn, and seamed.
