Kestrel and Gull Scarf
This pattern is
available from payhip.com
for $6.00.
In the third book of the Farseer Series, Assassin’s Quest, by Robin Hobb, Kestrel and Gull are Skill twins who were born and raised in a fishing village. This scarf celebrates the two sisters’ beginnings with the symbols of the Shetland twins amidst seashells and the rolling waves of the sea.
This scarf is knitted in the delicacy and simplicity of Shetland lace. The main body is charted only and the border is written only. All rows of the main body are patterned lace; there are no ‘rest’ rows.
The main body is knitted flat and then the stitches are picked up around the circumference so the edging can be knitted in the round.
