Lately we’ve seen an increase in a lot of amazing yarn colors, yarn clubs and gorgeous mini skeins all over the place and truth be told, we’d love to sample each of those colors but can only use a few on a project/projects we can accommodate in our knitting schedule.
Khwezi (meaning Morning Star) was born out of the need to play around with my favourite colour without committing to a lot of projects in order to indulge in my yarn fantasies. The blanket is fun to knit and then pieces are seamed together using the mattress stitch.
There are so many ways to complete this project including: using scrap yarn, mini skeins, gradient yarns changing the colour from one side to the next, alternating speckled with solid yarns doing a fade from one side to the other or from the centre going outwards or selecting your favourite colours and making the blanket from those.
You can also do this as a team project for a special gift to a special somebody.
Note: Instructions for the octagon pieces are written for 5 DPNs only. However magic loop can be used to work the pieces.
