Kilim Blanket
Traditionally made by women in tribal societies for personal and family use, Turkish kilim rugs use symbols and shapes to tell stories and express emotion and desire. Deep meaning is woven into the fabric in the form of motifs to represent fertility, safety, love, happiness, etc. The cross and triangular amulet shapes of this particular blanket design inspired by the iconic rugs represent protection and luck.
This pattern is part of the “Purposeful Patterns” initiative - a series of designs benefiting a variety of causes. $1 from the sale of each Kilim Blanket pattern will be donated to the Cultural Heritage Preservation and Natural Dyes Laboratory (DATU) through the Turkish Cultural Foundation.
