Have you ever heard Aesop’s Fable, “The Lion and the Mouse”? It’s the cutest little story with a moral of how mercy brings a reward and shows that even the smallest being (the Mouse) can help those who are considered greater (the Lion).
The Kindly Lion and Mouse patterns were designed in reference to this story, but can be made for a wide variety of purposes. The pattern gives instructions for making the Lion and the Mouse in DK yarn. As written, the Lion is approximately 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall and the Mouse is approximately 5/8 in (1.6 cm) tall.
Information is also given within the pattern to create both a 5 inch (12.7 cm) and a 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) tall Lion and a 1 inch (2.5 cm) and 3/8 inch (0.95 cm) tall Mouse by adjusting hook size and yarn type, providing even more pattern versatility.
The Lion and the Mouse are great for storytelling, education, play, decoration, and gift-giving.
