Make this cute set for your own little Kirsty … the booties are knit in one-piece (and are seamless) with just a bit of colorwork while the tam has a nice deep band (with a solid underbrim) and then the fun colorwork wheel toward the center.

approx 200 (140 for tam/cap and 60 for booties) yards of washable, worsted-weight wool yarn (sample used Kraemer’s Summit Hill in four colors:
o MC (Fluorite) – 125 yards
o CC1 (Giggle) – 25 yards
o CC2 (Balsa) – 25 yards
o CC3 (Peridot) – 25 yards

US #6 dpns
US #6 circs (16- and 24-inch lengths)

Kirsty’s Cap: beginning with a ribbed band, the tam increases quickly 14 sts every other round until total achieved; a purl “rim” aids with setting the plate (or cardboard form); than the stranded colorwork section decreases to the center with an i-cord tab

Kirsty’s Booties: starting at the cuff, and working in the round, you’ll work some ribbing, than a few rounds of stockinette. You’ll then knit the instep flat (so colorwork is similar to intarsia); pickup all sts around and work the sides and sole. You’ll finish the bottom of the bootie with a three-needle-bind-off (or optional grafting).
