Note: This pattern has been taken down. It does not reflect my skills as a designer! It was my very first time writing a pattern, and while that was a major stepping-stone for me, it no longer represents what I’m capable of or the quality I want to provide in my designs.

This hat is based on the Who? Cabled Owl Hat and other owl-cable projects that are currently making their way around the interwebs. I had a brainwave that I could switch the direction of the bottom cables, and add a tail, and turn that owl into a cat.

Makes a large, slouchy toque, with a pom-pom on top. Also includes instructions for modifying the pattern to make a smaller, fitted hat.

Includes charted instructions.

In addition to the yarn and needles, you will need:

  • stitch marker
  • 2 small buttons for eyes (optional, you can use more, less, or none at all)
  • sewing needle and thread
  • pom-pom maker (optional)
