Knit A Rainbow Sweater
Knit a Rainbow Sweater is a top down raglan sweater that was designed for my 50th Birthday, mimicking my favorite comfy sweatshirt. The yarn color was designed for me by Cake Wool Company and reminds me of a rainbow. Rainbows and knitting have a special meaning to me, it’s the last life lesson my mother gave me before she died a year ago. I was knitting in the hospital a grey shawl (Julie’s Wrap by Joji Locatelli) and my mother asked who the shawl was for. I told her it was for me, and she closed her eyes and smiled saying, “Honey, when life is hard and days are grey… knit a rainbow” I returned the grey yarn and bought the most happy colors I could find. That shawl brought me so much happiness! During the intense days of my grief, I would pick up my knitting and it was such a comfort to me. My hope is that during this intense time in our history (Covid 19) you all knit with colors that make you feel comfort, joy and peace… that would be the greatest birthday gift to me.
