The yarn is just a suggestion since i haven`t had the time to testknit it myself but there are some lovely people doing it right now. But i have tried the yarn before and it usually works well for my patterns. You will need one skein of each color.

The size is easily adjusted by changing the gauge
Change it up and you will get a smaller mitten
Change it down and the mitten will get bigger

You change the gauge by changing the size of your needles and or the weight of your yarn.

For the second mitten you can read the chart from left to right but this is only for the side with the thumb. The front side with the text has to be read from right to left.
