Eight patterned blocks combine with eight garter stitch blocks for a generously sized afghan. Knit in blocks or strips, your choice!

Choose a nice worsted weight yarn, about 1200 grams total. Trish and Steffanie both used 4 colors, but you could use as few as one color and as many as sixteen. Each block takes roughly 65 grams of worsted weight wool, so if you are using 4 colors you will need approx 300 grams of each color.

The afghan was originally released one block at a time as a mystery knitalong over the summer of 2014. Trish knit hers in Cascade 220 Superwash on #7 needles. Steffanie used Berroco Remix on #8 needles.

Other good yarn choices include Rowan Pure Wool Worsted, Cascade 220, Berroco Vintage, Spud & Chloe Sweater, Berroco Ultra Alpaca, or Plymouth Encore. Choose a needle size that gives you a nice fabric with the yarn you’ve chosen. Our gauge is roughly 4.5 sts per inch in garter stitch.
